How Does Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) Work?

CHM is not insurance—it's a faith-based health cost sharing ministry where Christians help each other pay medical bills. Members contribute a monthly share (similar to a premium), and those funds are used to reimburse eligible medical expenses according to CHM’s guidelines.

🙏 Based on Christian Principles

  • No insurance contracts

  • No provider networks

  • Just a community of believers supporting one another in times of need

Key Terms You Should Know

💵 Personal Responsibility (PR)

This is your annual deductible—the amount you pay once per year, incase you have a medical event (a collection of all medical bills for one illness/event)

Gold Plan ----------- $ 1,250

Silver Plan ---------- $ 3,000

Bronze Plan -------- $ 6,000

SeniorShare Plan - $    500

📋 Qualifying Amount (QA)

This is the minimum total cost of a medical event (all bills added up) that must be met before submitting bills for reimbursement. It includes all related expenses—doctor visits, labs, procedures, follow-ups, etc.

Gold Plan ----------- $ 1,250

Silver Plan ---------- $ 3,000

Bronze Plan -------- $ 6,000

SeniorShare Plan - $    500

✅ Note: For each plan, the QA and PR are the same amount.

🧾 Real-Life Example: Gold Plan

In January you visit your doctor, who orders a CT scan, ultrasound, lab work, and a follow-up visit.

  • Total bills after discounts: $2,200

  • You submit all bills via CHM’s online portal

  • Since your QA (Qualifijng Amount) is met and your PR (Personal Responsibility) is $1,250, CHM reimburses you: $2,200 – $1,250 = $950

In July of that same year you have a colonoscopy with anesthesia, labs, and follow-up.

  • Total cost: $6,000

  • Since you’ve already met your PR for the year, CHM reimburses the full $6,000

In November you go for your annual exam and testing.

  • Total cost: $1,250

  • QA is met, and PR was already paid earlier in the year

  • CHM reimburses the full $1,250

🏆 Why Choose the Gold Plan?

The Gold Plan is CHM’s only option with comprehensive coverage and a low Personal Responsibility
