🩺 Pre-Existing Conditions & Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)

A pre-existing condition is any illness or medical issue for which you’ve experienced symptoms, received treatment, or shown signs before joining CHM—even if it hasn’t been formally diagnosed. CHM does not share bills incurred prior to membership.

🔄 Active vs. Maintenance Treatment

CHM distinguishes between:

  • Active treatment: Ongoing care beyond routine medication

  • Maintenance treatment: Stable condition managed with routine prescriptions

If your condition is in active treatment when you join, bills related to that condition are not eligible for sharing. However, once your doctor confirms you're on a maintenance regimen, future medical events related to that condition may be eligible under the Gold Plan.

📊 CHM Gold Plan Pre-Existing Condition Sharing Schedule

Year 1---$15,000

Year 2---$25,000 total ($15K + $10K)

Year 3---$50,000 total ($15K + $10K + $25K)

Year 4+--No longer considered pre-existing

✅ Only the Gold Plan offers this level of support for pre-existing conditions.

🙏 What If My Pre-existing Bills Exceed the Limit with CHM?

CHM's program called CHM Give offers additional support for members whose bills exceed the standard sharing limits.

  • Bills may be listed in the monthly CHM newsletter

  • Members are encouraged to give above their regular monthly share

  • Names, medical needs, and updates are shared to inspire giving

💡 According to CHM’s newsletter, if every member gave a one-time gift of $18, it would cover all CHM Give's needs—often over 100 individuals with significant medical bills.

🚫 Maternity & Pre-Existing Conditions

If a member joins CHM while already pregnant, bills related to that pregnancy are not eligible for sharing—either through the regular program or the Prayer Page. To qualify for maternity sharing, the due date must be at least 300 days after joining.
