🙋‍♂️ Who Can Join Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)?

Membership Requirements & Responsibilities

Christian Healthcare Ministries is a faith-based health cost sharing ministry—not insurance—and membership is open to Christians who live by biblical principles. Unlike Medi-Share and many newer health sharing programs, CHM has no restrictions based on age, weight, location, or health history.

CHM Membership Requirements:

  • You must be a Christian actively living by biblical values

  • You must have a church home and attend regularly (as health permits)

  • You must abstain from smoking and illegal drug use

  • You must follow biblical guidelines for alcohol use

  • You can enroll or cancel at any time—no contracts or open enrollment windows

🔍 CHM is one of the few Christian health sharing ministries with truly open access—no age-based fees, no BMI penalties, and no geographic exclusions.

⚠️ Medi-Share vs. CHM: Key Differences in Eligibility

Many newer health sharing organizations—including Medi-Share—have hidden restrictions in their fine print. These often include:

  • Extra monthly fees based on age, weight, or pre-existing conditions

  • BMI-based surcharges (e.g., Medi-Share currently charges $99/month per person if you're not at a “healthy weight”)

  • Limited eligibility for older adults or those with chronic conditions

CHM does not impose these restrictions. Every member pays the same rate based on household size—no hidden fees, no health-based penalties.

👨‍👩‍👧 Can Adult Children Be Included?

Yes—adult children can remain on your CHM membership until their 26th birthday, as long as they meet all of the following:

  • They are Christians living by biblical principles

  • They are single

  • They are your legal dependents (claimed on your income tax return)
